- - Hazardous material spill or incident.
- - Rainfall/stream level observation and reports during a storm.
- Severe weather observations and reports. (Prior training from the
- National Weather Service is required.)
- - ATV (Amateur Television) from the National Weather Service
- forecast office to the EOC for periodic briefings during severe
- weather incidents.
- - Hostage situation. (ATV transmits high resolution color pic-
- tures back to the EOC or law enforcement HQ for training pur-
- poses.)
- - Forest and wild fires.
- - Floods.
- - Point-to-point links during telephone outages.
- - Interstate mutual aid missions: forest fires, etc.
- - Landslides with long detours in remote areas: provide phone
- patches for the inconvenienced motorists.

- Almost any activity conceivable to the Radio Officer can be justified
- to train the RACES members if the situation is approached and handled
- in the right manner. Studied carefully and prudently, almost any
- activity can be one in which a RACES unit can function, although
- it takes effort by the RO and close coordination with the Emer-
- gency Services Manager for the RACES unit in your jurisdiction.
